Welcome to our home!
First I want to tell you how grateful I am for my Dachie Kids for letting me live here with them! They let me feed, cloth, clean and love each and every one of them. There haven't been any complaints because none of the permanent residents have packed a bag and decided to leave home.
When I started my family of Dashies I had no idea it would grow as it has! It all started with our first little girl, Bailey. Then, 3 weeks later I knew that everyone should be so lucky to have a wonderful dachshund puppy, so I got our first male, Baron. They made one darling family of 2 puppies which one went to my sister and the other one went to one of my sister's friends. This was the beginning. But, I also knew that there had to be more to this then putting 2 dogs together and making puppies. So began the research.
I found out that it takes a little more then what I was doing. I knew that I needed to refine my breeding program. After all, breeding any breed is only done to better the breed. So began my search for the best possible dachshunds I could find. First and foremost is to start by talking to the best breeders. These are the people that have already made all the mistakes and now know better. They can pass their knowledge on to insure you don't make the same mistakes. It all depends on what you are trying to accomplish. I first like to breed for temperament and confirmation. If you have a dog that is pleasant to be around and very social, I feel that is a very positive thing. Then, the dog should sound. The dog doesn't have to be a show dog, but it should be sound. If the dog doesn't have the correct structure there can be problems down the road. Of course, along with the soundness of the dachshund it is very important that all the bones line up. If everything doesn't line up, there can be problems. The Dachshunds are known for back problems. With proper breeding, feeding and habits learned, such as using a ramp to go up and down from the couch or bed, this can help in avoiding such problems. Then there is also a risk if two certain color patterns are bred together, this can cause blindness and deafness. Mind you this is just a very basic overview of what is involved in breeding. With all this taken into consideration I have been extremely careful to try to do it right. I have many repeat clients and most of my clients send me referrals.
My webpage is about three years old now. I feel this is the best way to let you see what I have and how I do it. My thanks go out to Jen Oakes for her wonderful web designing. I am proud of my accomplishments and I know that I will never learn enough. I am always learning and trying to better myself. The dog show world opened up to me with my wonderful male dog, Rudy! I was never intending to show dogs. I was talked into “just giving it a try”. In 2004, I took Rudy in the ring for his and my first time in San Jose ever showing. Both of us not knowing what we were doing! But by some miracle we did fantastic and we went to group Saturday and Sunday! That was all it took! We were hooked! No looking back! Now, 2 years later, I have the privilege of seeing Rudy's off spring in the ring and doing well! This is how it should be, breed to better the breed!
Anyway, we are very proud of our family. I am also very thankful for all of those dedicated breeders and show people who have educated me to get to this point.
I invite you to visit my home. I am lucky enough to be able to be with my Dachshunds 24/7. It is truly a labor of love. It is truly a full time job, with never a dull moment. I don't think I would have it any other way.
